The Homeowner Checklist for Home Appliances

Homeowners don’t think about maintenance for their home appliances. Without maintenance these appliances stop working efficiently and introduce safety risks. Home fires, water leaks, and structural damage are just some of the risks when maintenance is ignored.

Here is the maintenance required for 3 common home appliances.

    1. Fireplace
Fireplaces require annual maintenance to maintain the highest level of efficiency and safety. Annual maintenance includes a Level 1 Chimney Inspection and professional sweep. Even gas fireplaces require this sort of maintenance to ensure that you aren’t at risk of gas leaks amoung other issues.
If any issues are found during the inspection, you should focus on getting repairs done as quickly as possible, but definitely before you use the appliance.
    2. Boiler/ furnace
It’s important to note that your fuel provider does NOT service your boiler or furnace’s exhaust system. The exhaust system is where problems such as corrosion or obstructions that can put your family at risk. To avoid this, you need to schedule annual maintenance including an inspection and cleaning.
    3. Stove
Stoves are great appliances that can have some big problems when not properly cared for including smokey fires, improper draft or a blocked chimney that can result in a home fire. The best way to protect your home is to schedule a Level 1 Inspection every year. You should do this regardless of what type of fuel you use: pellet or wood.
